Beskrivning
Purifying a House from Blood provides an updated philological edition of the Hittite ritual for the ancient gods (CTH 446) with transliteration, transcription, and English translation. In addition to the updated critical edition, which is complemented with philological notes and commentary, this work provides a comprehensive study of this important ritual text. The introduction to the text (part 1) presents a palaeographic analysis and a brief overview of the content and the main topics of interest for a reading. Part 2 offers a detailed philological commentary. Part 3 discusses in greater detail some distinctive aspects of this composition in the broader context of the Hittite ritual corpus.

. . . the thoroughness of the volume under review shows that each time a Hittite magic ritual is examined, it can give rise to new working hypotheses and interpretations. Andrea Trameri, the author of the book, thus provides a new, updated and comprehensive edition of this ritual. . . . We have to thank the author for again bringing this ritual to our attention and showing us that there are always new discoveries to be made, and novel ways to reconstruct the distinctive features of Hittite magic praxis.Torri, Giulia, BiOr 81.12 (2024): 20-29"The philological edition is up to the highest standards. . . . Trameri has provided the scholarly community with a solid and updated edition of an important ritual text, which both builds on and expands the current debate on the use and function of the Hittite documents found in the text deposits of Hattua / Bogazköy."Barsacchi, Francesco G., Orientalia 92.2 (2023)"[O]ne must thank the author for providing a solid new edition of an important ritual text from the Hittite world and for discussing its various aspects, from paleography and its dating to a major discussion of its standing within the written transmission of the Hittites."Görke, Susanne, Philipps-Universität Marburg, JNES 83 (2024)
