Anders Ackfeldt, PhD in History of Religions with specialisation in Islamic Studies from Lund University, is the Deputy Director of the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul. His latest book, Islamic Themes in US Hip-Hop Culture, has been published by Edinburgh University Press in 2025. Jesper Petersen, PhD in History of Religions with a specialisation in Islamic Studies from Lund University, is Associate Professor at Copenhagen University and Starting Grant research leader on the ‘Non-Muslim Islam’ project. His latest book, The Islamic Juridical Vacuum, was published by Brill in 2025.

The Production and Consumption of Non-Muslim Islams is long-overdue. What is most important about the book is that it makes a powerful argument for a phenomenological reality of non-Muslim Islam that is every bit as “real” as the normative understandings and experiences of Islam by Muslims.
