Dr. Clare E. RobinsonDr. Clare E. Robinson is a Canada Research Chair in Water Quality and Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Western University.  She recieved her BEng and PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia.  Before joining Western University in 2009, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at EPFL in Switzerland and worked as a Water Engineer for a water supply and sanitation NGO in Bangladesh. She is a registered professional engineer in OntarioDr. Robinson specializes in investigating water-borne contaminants in the environnent with a focus on understanding the sources, transport and fate of contaminants in natural and engineered systems. Dr. Robinson’s current research includes evaluating impact of groundwater contaminants on surface water quality, urban stormwater management for water quality control, and determining the impacts of onsite wastewater systems on surface water quality.  Dr. Robinson received an Early Research Award from the Ontario Government (2012) and was a member of the International Joint Commission Great Lakes Science Advisory Board from 2014 to 2019.  She also was awarded a Western Faculty Scholar (2020-2022) and the Western Green Award (2018).  Dr. Robinson has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals and given over 60 invited talks at international conferences, universities, and at government and industry workshops.  Dr. Amir H Azimi Dr. Amir H. Azimi is Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University.  He is the founder and director of the Multiphase Flow Research Laboratory (MFRL) and has published many papers in highly ranked journals. He received his master’s in environmental engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology and received his Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering at the University of Alberta. He was the recipient of the most prestigious PhD scholarship (the FS Chia Scholarship) from the University of Alberta and received the Jacob Masliyah Award for his research. His current research is focused on studying particle dynamics, bubble dynamics, and solid-fluid interaction in non-Newtonian fluids. His areas of interest include particle-laden fluid dynamics, sediment transport, river engineering, and hydraulic structures. Dr. Azimi has more than 25 years of combined academic and industry experience and recently received the Lakehead University Research Excellence and the Merit Awards for his research work. He secured several internal and external research grants from major funding bodies, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC: Discovery Grant, Collaborative Research and Development Grant, and Engage Grants), the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), and the John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF).
