Absolutely delightful! Pride and Prejudice is a classic among classics, and Gemma Barder has adapted this work beautifully. The story is familiar, and returning to Longbourn and Netherfield, the Bennets and famed Mr Darcy and sweet Mr Bingley and nefarious Mr Wickhan, is like drinking a comforting cup of tea. This is a wonderfully illustrated edition that I can imagine suits a mother-young daughter reading session perfectly. Barder might lose some of the witty repartees bursting in nearly all lines of Austen’s original dialogue, but she nevertheless captures a wonderful essence of Pride and Prejudice that is certain to excite hungry, young readers. I’d recommend this to parents for their early elementary school girls; it will be a perfect addition to their reading lists!
