This open-access book offers an examination of the Rohingya genocide by bringing questions of violence, denial, and justice in a single interdisciplinary frame. While the mass atrocities against the Rohingya are well-documented, this book shows how recognition and accountability continue to be constrained by state denial, geopolitical diplomacy, and legal thresholds. Drawing on transdisciplinary backgrounds, the contributors reveal how the Rohingya have been systematically rendered stateless through denationalisation and state-sponsored narratives, which continue to shape the search for justice, including through the ongoing International Court of Justice case.The book’s distinctive contribution is to combine survivor-centred evidence with broader legal analysis. Organised in three parts, the chapters combine socio-legal analysis with empirical evidence from refugee camps, addressing structural violence, water insecurity, gender-based violence, domicide, media-framing, and the governance of protracted displacement.  In doing so, the book goes beyond familiar accounts of displacement to show how genocide operates before, during, and after 2017 through genocidal denial. It connects Rohingya survivor testimony, grounded field evidence, and contemporary debates on genocidal intent, non-legal definitions, and post-atrocity governance. This makes the volume an important resource in the field of genocide, forced migration, international law, human rights, social justice, and South and Southeast Asian politics.
