Planning Community Mental Health Services for Women

The policy of moving mental health care back into the community is intended to provide a more appropriate and flexible range of services adapted to the needs of the users of the services. However, the number of mental health settings which meet the particular needs of women are few. In this book, contributors working in a range of settings show how services and clinical practice can be informed and modified by a better understanding of women's diverse needs and experiences. They offer models of good practice and describe innovative services focusing on women. Planning Community Mental Health Services for Women looks at what women want from services, and the differences between their perceived needs and what they have often received. It will be relevant to all professionals working with women in the community and particularly useful to those who are developing local services.
