Girolamo Mattioli is Director of the Pediatric Surgery School at the University of Genoa, and Head of the Pediatric Surgery Unit at the Giannina Gaslini Institute of Genoa, an internationally renowned children's hospital. He is the author of more than 300 publications and a member of the principal pediatric surgical societies (EUPSA, IPEG, SICP).
