Beskrivning
The parables of Jesus are puzzling sayings and stories with world-transforming potential. Parables for Preachers offers an understanding of how parables work and a fresh variety of possible meanings not only for Jesus's original audience and for the early Christians for whom Matthew, Mark, and Luke wrote but also for contemporary Christians as well. The Gospel parables are analyzed in the order in which they appear in the Lectionary, making this book an indispensable resource for preachers, teachers, catechists, liturgy planners, and Bible study groups.

Recensioner i media

As parables aim to shock us out of our normal way of thinking into thinking like Christ, so too does Barbara Reid's Parables for Preachers send shock waves through our usual understanding of St. Mark. Her scholarly, comprehensive treatment reveals a rich world of biblical insights for homilists seeking greater depths in their homilies.Fr. Gene Hemrick, Research Director, Washington Theological Union, Research Associate, Life Cycle Institute, The Catholic University of America
