Crystal Skillman's provocative The Vigil or The Guided Cradle interrogates torture across six centuries. Charity Henson-Ballard's lyrical and sweeping The Quiver of Children and Laura Eason's tautly focused Rewind each chart the attempt to outwit fate through artful means.
