Osteoporosis is a widespread disorder with significant worldwide health and economic impact. In the second edition of the highly successful Osteoporosis: Pathophysiology and Clinical Management, new editor Robert A. Adler, MD, uses the same approach as the first edition, pairing a chapter on the basic science of a disorder followed by a chapter on its clinical aspects. Updated and expanded, this second edition includes many new chapters reflecting the growing literature on osteoporosis. New topics cover such areas as methods of bone imaging, screening for osteoporosis, adherence to therapy, and even a novel and exciting chapter on osteoporosis in men, to name just several. In Osteoporosis: Pathophysiology and Clinical Management, Second Edition, leading experts in a variety of fields have once again provided a wealth of invaluable, state-of-the-art information to illuminate the major scientific and clinical aspects of osteoporosis.

From the reviews of the second edition: "This new book shows how osteoporosis can be reliably diagnosed, treated and prevented while it continues to remain undetected among patients and continues to severe physical, social, functional and psychological consequences including increased mortality and morbidity. Doctor Adler and his famous contributors have reliably extended the excellent work of Doctors Eric S Orwoll and Michael Bliziotes in exploring this disorder ... . Comprehensive therapists can improve this unfortunate situation and will aided in their quest by studying this new book." (William H. Wehrmacher and Harry Messmore, Comprehensive Therapy, Spring, 2010) "This comprehensive book on the pathophysiology and therapeutic management of osteoporosis helpfully presents the basic aspects of the disease followed by clinical aspects. ... This is a wonderful book for students and trainees interested in understanding osteoporosis. It is also very easy to read and would be a very good resource for endocrine fellows. ... Practicing endocrinologists will find the new chapters on osteoporosis in men and adherence to therapy very relevant. Fellows in training also will find this book very helpful." (Kaveeta P. Vasisht, Doody's Review Service, June, 2010)
