Oscar Finds the Treasure

Julie Alison McDonald, Sussex based author and illustrator, first created the Binkie & Friends' Adventure series in 2021. She is dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusivity where our diverse differences are celebrated. Drawing from her personal experience as the mother of a son with autism, Julie understands the challenges that neurodiversity can present in both school and everyday life. Her goal is to promote acceptance and understanding, through the characters in her books, helping others to recognise and appreciate the unique strengths that each of us possess.Anna Emilia, author of Little Cat and Friends, a series of books featuring Molina a curious cat, teamed up with Julie to write this book, the sixth in the series. Anna has struggled to read and communicate over the years. She knows first hand the difficulties that some children face and also the mechanisms that are put in place to hide it. Being diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult was a game changer and now it all makes sense! Anna feels passionately about making sure that no child is left behind. Language is integral to communicating and learning, which should be an interesting and fun experience. Becky Clark, Fellow of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, and a founder of the RADLD (Raising Awareness of Developmental Language Disorder) campaign, guided Julie and Anna in the making of this book. Becky's expertise helped shape the book, especially with regard to the strategies outlined within the story.
