This book presents current research in privacy-preserving protocolsfor smart grids. It contains several approaches and compares themanalytically and by means of simulation. In particular, the bookintroduces asymmetric DC-Nets, which offer an ideal combination ofperformance and features in comparison with homomorphic encryption;data anonymization via cryptographic protocols; and data obfuscationby means of noise injection or by means of the installation of storagebanks. The author shows that this theory can be leveraged into severalapplication scenarios, and how asymmetric DC-Nets are generalizationsof additive homomorphic encryption schemes and abstractions ofsymmetric DC-Nets. The book provides the reader with an understandingabout smart grid scenarios, the privacy problem, and the mathematicsand algorithms used to solve it.
