More than 10,000 papers have been presented at OTC since it began in 1969, some of which provided innovation in, vision for, and lasting impact on the design, construction, or installation of offshore infrastructure. Many papers were adopted by design standards worldwide or have become an integral part of design software. Others have had influence far beyond the offshore industry, and some have become integral to the design process of onshore structures, such as buildings and bridges.Volume 12 contains five papers inducted into the OTC Hall of Fame in 2017. The engineering methods published in these papers have proven their value through widespread use and permeate codes, standards, guidelines, and engineering software.
