Martin Hermann has been Professor of Numerical Mathematics at Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU) since 1991. He specialises in the numerical treatment of parameter-dependent non-linear differential equations. For many years, he has given the basic lecture ‘Numerical Mathematics’ for students of mathematics, business mathematics, physics, computer science and teaching as well as specialised lectures on selected areas of numerical mathematics. He is speaker of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Scientific Computing, curator of the Collegium Europaeum Jenense at the FSU Jena and a member of many national and international professional organisations.
