Prof. Dr. Albert van der Heide (1942) taught Hebrew and Jewish religion and culture at Leiden University and at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He wrote widely and diversely on the subjects of his teaching and specialized in the history of medieval Jewish Bible interpretation. He was a long time active for the European Association of Jewish Studies and acted as guest-curator for the Museum Plantijn en Moretus, Antwerpen (2006-2008).
