Beskrivning
While many books exist on the subject of war, few scholars have offered historical and practical analyses of nonviolent alternatives to the military defense of nations. Professor Freund's historical examples of nonviolence from the last 125 years range from the Hungarian resistance to Austria (1859-1867), to Ghandian nonviolence in India (1918-1933), to the Danish and Norwegian resistance to the Nazis (1940-1945). Elaborates fully the mechanism, tactics, and specific actions of a nonviolent national defense program, attempting to show how it can be a viable, practical alternative to military force.
