– in: Francia-Recensio 2012/2"this volume succeeds very well in opening new perspectives on an everlasting classic of political philosophy. From a historical viewpoint, the adoption of Machiavelli has often been unfair, due to sciolism and/or political prejudice. The work in hand proves the popular impression of the “one issue scholar” wrong by revealing the richness and complexity of Machiavelli’s contribution to that field. Needless to say, one does not have to consent to each and every argument of this book, but dealing with it becomes a necessity when one is working on its topics." – in: Homo Oeconomicus 29/2 (2012), 195–218
