One element of historical work that greatly enriches the entire field is the importance of perspective in understanding the past. Approaching history from diverse individuals' points of view, or with a particular sensitivity to group objectives or experiences, or through a particular disciplinary lens can yield distinctive new understandings of the past. The articles of the Winter 2025 issue of New York History (106.2) help remind us of the value of this multiplicity of approaches to studying the Empire State.
