“Most readers will be drawn to My Excellency by the translator’s name, and the poet does not disappoint. . . . Many translations of voices like this have an air of problem-solving to them, producing accurate but awkward and heavily footnoted phrases, but Williams’s prioritization here of a natural American English and genuinely funny lines is a good one: it makes for an enjoyable read, and a translation that seems to me truer to Rechani Agrait’s intentions and politics.”
