Beskrivning
My Achilles looks at the man behind the myth and explores both the strength and vulnerability in embracing all the sides of oneself: the complex and the ugly, the bold and the brilliant. With themes of love, hope and yearning, My Achilles aims to be not just a myth but a legend. So much about queer love and identity has been hidden between parentheses and what is not said. This pamphlet attempts to fill in those gaps, so that they are not destined to be repeated over and over.

Mer information

Stanley Iyanu is a performance poet and writer from London. His spoken word poetry style has been described as having the “gentle power of a slow ocean building”. His poems have been published in the Poetry Society magazine, 14Poems, in international poetry journals and several anthologies including Queerphoria – Queer Joy, Verve Voices. A multi-slam winner, he has performed across the UK for Apples & Snakes, BBC Radio London and the Cheltenham Literature Festival. Incorporating unique perspectives: queer identity, British Nigerian heritage, a love of folklore and mythology, Stanley Iyanu brings wit, tenderness and charm into his writing and performance: a quiet storm of enigmatic poetry.
