Peter Gillman is an author andjournalist who first wrote for the Sunday Times in 1965. He spentfifteen years on its staff, five as a member of its Insight investigative team,and he frequently reported from the Middle East. He has written a dozen books,many co-authored with his wife, Leni. Their biography of the Everest pioneer GeorgeMallory, The Wildest Dream, won the Boardman Tasker Award for MountainLiterature in 2000 and their book Extreme Eiger won the Book of the Yearprize from the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild in 2016. They live insouth London and have two children and four grandchildren.Emanuele Midolo is aninvestigative journalist with fifteen years of experience who has written inthree languages for publications across the UK, France and Italy. He has wonawards for his reporting and has been shortlisted multiple times for the BritishJournalism Awards, the Media Freedom Awards and the British Society of MagazineEditors Awards. He has worked at The Times and the Sunday Times since2020 and lives in London. This is his first book.
