Multicultural Education in an Age of Globalization: Compelling Issues for Engagement is a well-timed book. In the United States, high profile political leaders are fanning the flames of intolerance and fear among the citizenry. Courts are refusing to hear cases of racial discrimination, businesses are overlooking employees of color for promotion and salary increases, and public schools are talking about equity and quality education; however, fewer and fewer resources are being allocated for that purpose. Global challenges are even more significant, with increasing poverty, health disparities, religious intolerance, gender inequity, and women empowerment impediments. I congratulate Dr. DomNwachukwu on his artful ability to piece together a historical overview of colonialism and its legacy with current issues of globalization, gender, religion, and economic challenges facing educators and families in the twenty-first century. Multicultural Education in an Age of Globalization: Compelling Issues for Engagement gives a sobering account of the challenges of diversity and multiculturalism an age of globalization.
