Lebohang Masango is a PHD candidate in Social Anthropology at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She is also the children’s book author of the award winning Mpumi’s Magic Beads and co-author of Mpumi and Jabu’s Magical Day, a poet, freelance writer and feminist activist. Lebohang is the UNICEF Volunteer Program Advocate and an inaugural Zanele Mbeki Fellow in feminist leadership. With her immense passion for children’s literacy, Lebohang regularly hosts storytelling sessions in schools, bookshops, community libraries and virtually, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lebohang was voted the second runner-up in the Daily Maverick’s Per-sons of the Year 2021: Youth Champion category. Masego Morulane is a graphic designer/illustrator and has contributed to Book Dash, a project that is aimed at encouraging the habit of reading in children by creating authentic African story-books. In 2018 she illustrated the multi-award-winning children’s book, Mpumi’s Magic Beads. In 2022, she illustrated the first two books in the Mpumi series for kindergarten children, namely What Does Mpumi Wear? and What Does Mpumi Eat? Two new titles in this series, What is Mpumi's Favourite Colour? and Can Mpumi Count?, will be published in May 2023.
