Malcolm Archibald was born in Edinburgh in 1957, where he won a scholarship to the Royal High School. He tried many jobs before graduating at the University of Dundee in 2001 with first class honours in history. Married with three children, he now lives in Dundee where he works as a history lecturer at Dundee College after a previous job as a postman. He has written several non-fiction and fiction books, one of which won the Dundee Book Prize in 2005.
