The main point represents mixture formation for spark ignition engines, with regard to the basic principles as well as the design and construction of carburettors, injection systems and intake manifolds. In addition, the appertaining measuring techniques are also discussed. The basic principles of combustion are discussed to such an extent that is necessary to understand the effects of mixture formation. The book should provide an overall insight on the state of the art, as well as complete information for the industrial engineer, scientific and university students. Even after more than 100 years since the invention of the spark ignition engine, research is still intensively undertaken in this field, and great progress has been achieved.
