Migration Control Logics and Strategies in Europe

Claudia Finotelli, holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Münster (Germany) and is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Sociology of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). Since 2018 she is Research Associate of the International Forum of Research on Migration in Turin (Italy). Her research interests cover the areas of migration control, integration policies and citizenship in comparative perspective with a special focus on Southern Europe. She has participated in several international projects on the regulation of migration and has published extensively on migration control and irregular migration in international journals.Irene Ponzo is currently the Deputy Director of FIERI (Forum of International and European Research on Immigration, Italy). She has a background in political sociology and holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Sociological Research from the University of Turin (Italy). Her main research interests concern integration policies and asylum governance, with a prevailing focus on the local level and the multilevel dynamics. She has also extensively worked on migrant and refugee inclusion, paying a specific attention to the effects of economic recessions. She has participated in several EU-funded projects, both research-focused and policy-oriented, and published books and articles with international publishers.
