Dr. Xuan-Thanh Bui is an Associate Professor at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT, VNU-HCM in Vietnam. He received his M.Eng and Ph.D. degrees in environmental engineering at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. He serves as chairman of Dept. of Water Science & Technology and head of VNU-HCM Key Laboratory of Advanced Waste Treatment Technology. His research focuses on membrane separation processes, water and wastewater treatment technologies, biological treatment processes and green technologies. He has published more than 100 SCIE journal papers, 25 books/book chapters and 02 patents. Additionally, he has played a role of project investigator of more than 50 international/national research projects in the field and organized three international conferences. Since 2017, he became members of the scientific committee in the field of earth sciences and environment of National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED), Ministry of Science and Technology, Viet Nam. In addition, he is editor board members of some journals such as Bioresource Technology, Environmental Technology and Innovation, Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering, Vietnam Journal of Engineering Science and Technology. Dr. Thanh-Binh Nguyen earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Science from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, in 2018. Since February 2023, he has been serving as an Associate Professor at the College of Hydrosphere, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. His research expertise covers diverse areas, including membrane separation processes, wastewater treatment, biological processes, advanced oxidation processes, sediment analysis, nanomaterials, microplastics, and energy solutions. Over the past five years, Dr. Nguyen has made significant contributions to his field, authoring 90 research articles and 3 book chapters. Notably, Dr. Nguyen has been consistently recognized among Stanford University's top 2% of global scientists (2024), underscoring his impact and dedication to advancing science and providing innovative solutions to pressing environmental issues. Dr. Thanh-Binh Nguyen has conducted extensive research on microplastics, a growing environmental concern. Dr. C. Visvanathan, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Mahidol University (Bangkok), is a globally recognized expert in plastic waste management with over three decades of experience developing innovative recycling methodologies and sustainable disposal techniques. With a Ph.D. from the Institute of National Polytechnique in France, his pioneering research spans membrane technologies, sustainable consumption, and circular economy approaches for plastic waste streams—resulting in more than 170 international journal publications. Consistently ranked among Stanford University’s top 2% of global scientists (2020-2023), Dr. Visvanathan combines rigorous academic research with practical solutions to address critical environmental challenges, particularly in the Asian region, where plastic pollution poses significant threats to ecosystems and communities Dr. Sheng Chang is a Full Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Water Resources Engineering at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering, with a specialization in membrane filtration, from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. From 2003 to 2005, he was an Australian Research Council (ARC) Postdoctoral Fellow at the UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology at UNSW. Between 2005 and 2010, he worked as an R&D Engineer with GE Water and Process Technologies, gaining extensive industry experience in water treatment innovation. Since joining the University of Guelph in 2010, Dr. Sheng Chang has established a robust research program focused on water and wastewater treatment technologies. His current research addresses the characterization and quantification of microplastics in wastewater and biosolids, anaerobic digestion for resources recovery, enhanced biological nutrient removal, and the advancement of aerobic and anaerobic membrane bioreactor systems. Dr. Sheng has successfully led and contributed to numerous funded research projects, collaborating with academic, governmental, and industrial partners.
