Prof. Dan Wei received her B.Sc. in physics from Peking University, China in 1988. She was a CUSPEA (China-US Physics Exchange Application, 1979- 1989) exchange student. In 1993, she completed her Ph.D. in physics at University of California at San Diego (UCSD), USA. From 1993 to 1996, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Center for Magnetic Recording Research (CMRR) at UCSD. In November 1996, she became an Associate Professor with the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE), Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. In August 2000, she became a full Professor with DMSE, Tsinghua University. Her research focuses on the micromagnetic theory of magnetic materials and magnetic information storage systems. She was elected as a senior member of Chinese Association of Electronics in 2002, a senior member of IEEE in 2003 and an IEICE overseas member in 2007. She is the chair of IEEE Magnetic Society, Beijing Chapter (2011-2013).
