Methods of Operations Research

A scientific method of providing executive departments with a quantitative basis for decisions regarding the procedures under their control, operations research originated in response to the military needs of World War II. This volume--co-written by George E. Kimball, the father of operations research, based on his Navy research--originally appeared in classified form but was later made available to scientists, engineers, and other nonmilitary professionals: the first such text published in the United States and a key book in the development of operations research as a major academic discipline. Undergraduate and graduate students as well as professionals will want a copy of this classic work with an Introduction to the Dover edition by Saul I. Gass.
