Merkmale und Relationen

A study of the historical development of the German noun phrase from Old High German onwards. The historical developments in German are contrasted with corresponding structures in the Scandinavian languages and comparable historical changes during the history of English. The historical and typological findings are discussed in the context of generativist theories of grammar.
