PETER KIVISTO is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Augustana College. He has published a number of articles on theory, social movements, and ethnicity. His books include Immigrant Socialists in the United States and The Ethnic Enigma. He is currently engaged in a project on sociology and social criticism since World War II.WILLIAM H. SWATOS, JR., has taught at King College and, more recently, as a member of the Sociology Department of Northern Illinois University. He is a board member of the Religious Research Association and is editor of Sociological Analysis. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and monographs and has edited several books, the most recent being the forthcoming Ultimate Answers and Changing Realities: Modern World Politics and Religious Resurgence.
