Alan Sica is professor of sociology and director of the Social Thought Program at Pennsylvania State University. Editor of the ASA journal Sociological Theory from 1989 to 1994, his books, as author or editor, include Hermeneutics, Weber, Irrationality, and Social Order, Ideologies and the Corruption of Thought: Essays of Joseph Gabel, What is Social Theory? and The Unknown Max Weber: Essays of Paul Honigsheim. His Max Weber: A Comprehensive Bibliography, is forthcoming from Transaction in 2004.
