This SpringerBrief focuses mainlyon the basic theory and applications ofmassive MIMO in 5G networks. The significanceof massive MIMO for 5G or futurecommunications is first briefly discussed. Then, the basic theory of massive MIMOtechnology is comprehensively analyzed, i.e., a variety of 5G scenarios and theirimprovements are described when massive MIMOis taken into account. Art physical-layer techniques and variousnetworking techniques for interferencemitigation and resource scheduling are introduced as well. This SpringerBrief also examines the selected applications of massive MIMO in 5G networks,i.e., massive MIMO-aided millimetercommunications and energy transfer. Thephysical-layer design, multiple access control(MAC) mechanism and networking techniques arediscussed for millimeter-wave communicationsaided by massive MIMO technology. Then, massive MIMO is covered for hybridinformation and energy transfer. A downlinkprecoder and a uplink pilot scheme isproposed for single cell networks, andboth non-cooperative and cooperative energytransfer in multi-cell are presented. Communication researchers in the area of MIMO technology, as well as researchers andpractitioners working in millimetercommunications and energy transfer seeking newresearch topics, and topic areas withcommunication system design, centralized anddistributed algorithms, will find this briefuseful as a reference. Advanced-level studentsstudying communication engineering will alsofind this book useful as a secondary text.
