"This book offers an introduction to the broad perspective of the expanding field of ocean economics together with standard economic theory. It provides a comprehensive and clear account of marine natural resources issues such as fisheries, mining, offshore oil and gas, renewable energy and biogenetic resources. The clear explanations and basic principles that underpin the text make it readily accessible to non-economists coming from diverse programs of study." -- Domenico da Empoli, University of Rome"In this extensive review of the economics of the world's oceans, Colazingari (Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies) provides a detailed examination of the convergence of technology, politics, policy, and natural resource conservation as it relates to the marine environment... highly recommended." -- J.A.
