MAGICAL MAN

Sometimes when Mikael eats the food she cooks for him - beef, potato and onion stew, larb, oven-baked chicken or just fried pork scratchings - his arms bead with sweat. She loves it, in the same way she loves his deep scent when he comes home after a day's work. He's a removal man; but once upon a time he was on the way to becoming a fighter. Is it his past that makes him so magical? All those years at the gym in Thailand or the hundreds upon hundreds of girls he was with before her? Or the fact his thighs are so vast that they chafe as he walks? The fact that his life in general has centred so much on the physical? She's not sure, but she knows that Mikael has changed her, fundamentally. She also knows that she loves him like she's never loved anybody else.A Magical Man is an intensely carnal love story, but most of all it is a tender portrait of a man and how he came to be who he is.
