This book, by a participant in the events, examines the very high inflation and large falls in output in the post-Communist countries. It focuses on the fundamental shift from supply to demand constrained economies, and on the crucial role of this change in creating the basis for private sector growth. Many of the chapters have grown out of policy debates in which the author participated.
