There, he worked for MAD magazine and met Rene Goscinny, with whom he collaborated from 1955 until Goscinny's death in 1977. Lodewijk "Lo" Hartog van Banda was a Dutch comic writer. He won the Dutch Stripschapprijs, a prize awarded to comic writers and cartoonists for career achievements, in 1975. Outside the Netherlands, he is probably best known for writing several Lucky Luke stories.
