Last Murder in Paris

Paris, 1942. Two years into the Nazi occupation of their city, the citizens are bone-tired and starving. Every day is dominated by curfews and barricades. In such desperate times every secret can be used as currency. When twins Camille and Marie Bardet are recruited to join the resistance by a mysterious figure under the nom de guerre Jean, their eyes are opened to another Paris; a world of forgers, bomb makers, wireless operators and field agents. After a series of bombings sparks a vicious German reprisal, merely carrying messages isn't enough and ‘Jean’ proposes a new, more dangerous assignment that will change the sisters’ lives forever. On the German side, the Wehrmacht’s top spy catcher in France Major Hugo Spreicher, must stamp out the resistance, outmanoeuvre his rivals in the Gestapo and skim enough profit from the occupation to ensure a comfortable retirement – or an escape plan. But after a chance meeting with a stranger on Bastille Day, Spreicher’s careful schemes will begin to unravel. In a city where war blasts apart old ties and forges new bonds, everyone must choose who they dare to trust. But, more importantly, they must also decide who they dare to betray. The Last Murder in Paris envelopes you in the secrets and lies of occupied Paris, where trusting others is as necessary as it is dangerous. Perfect for fans of Robert Harris, Jane Thynne and Mick Herron.
