Kid Rex to the Rescue

Mayo Agard-Olubo (Author) br Mayo (pronounced My-yo) is a writer and poet based in London who writes fiction in prose and verse for children and young adults. He is passionate about creating the stories he felt were missing from his own childhood, thrilling fantastical adventures and inspirational uplifting stories centred around young Black characters.His writing has won multiple awards including the 2023 Mo Siewcharran Prize and a 2022 London Writers Award in the Children's and YA category. He is one of the winners of A Writing Chance, a writing award created by New Writing North and the actor Michael Sheen, and was selected as one of the 2024 Writers on the Rise by Pan Macmillan and the Black British Book Festival. He has also been Highly Commended by Faber's FAB Prize and was longlisted for the inaugural Jericho Prize.He is a graduate of the HarperCollins Author Academy and has had work published in The Bookseller, The New Statesman and on BBC Sounds.brbrDiane Ewen (Illustrator) br Diane Ewen is British illustrator, born in Walsall, in the West Midlands. She is winner of the Jericho Prize and the Queen's Knickers Awards, 2021. She has always been in love with art and graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a B.A. Honours Degree in illustration. Diane likes to create illustrations that are hand-drawn in pencil before painting in watercolour and acrylics prior to embellishing them using Photoshop, but she also enjoys working directly on the computer screen creating her designs.brbr
