Ahmed S. Hashim is Professor of Strategic Studies in the Strategic Research Department of the United States Naval War College. He has published extensively on Iraq and irregular warfare, as well as on wider Middle Eastern strategic issues. His publications include Insurgency and Counterinsurgency in Iraq (Ithaca, NY, and London: Cornell and Hurst, 2006). Hashim has deployed to Iraq with the US Army as a political adviser on three occasions, where he focused on studying the Iraqi insurgency and providing strategic and operational input to the Coalition's counter-insurgency campaign plan.
