Sebouh David Aslanian is Professor of History and Richard Hovannisian Chair of Modern Armenian History, UCLA. Aslanian is the author of three research monographs, including Dispersion History and the Polycentric Nation: The Role of Simeon Yerevants‘i’s Girk‘ vor kochi Partavchar in the Eighteenth-Century National Revival (2004), the award-winning From the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean: The Global Trade Networks of Armenian Merchants from New Julfa 2011). His book Early Modernity and Mobility: Port Cities, Printers, and the Birth of Confessional Nation across the Armenian Diaspora, 1512-1800 (2024) was the winner of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading, and Publishing (SHARP) best book on any aspect of print culture published in 2024.
