Michael Stewart is senior lecturer in film and media at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. His main areas of research are film genre, film melodrama, and ageing masculinity in film. He has published on these topics in various journals and books, including recently, on Toni Erdmann (2016) in Ageing Masculinities in Contemporary European and Anglophone Cinema, T. Tracy and M. Schrage-Früh (eds), 2022, and on Calvary (2014) in Studies in European Cinema 16(2), 2019. He has also edited one collection on film and television melodrama (2014), and co-edited (with Robert Munro) one collection on intercultural screen adaptation (2020). Robert Munro is Lecturer in Digital Media and Communication at Queen Margaret University. His research focuses on Scottish cinema, the video essay, screen industries and film genre. Robert is currently leading a research project funded by Screen Scotland to explore Scotland’s moving image archive in primary schools.
