"Paul Henderson's book makes a helpful contribution to the literature on community development in the industrial countries. ... [he] shows how different European countries have successfully adopted community development principles. He provides seven case studies of community development projects in several countries... it [the book] contains a good deal of useful information. Its account of community development in Europe will be of interest not only to European readers but also to those in other parts of the world... His ability to combine theoretical ideas with practical examples is particulrly impressive and the book should appeal to practitioners and academics alike. Students will also find it helpful. It deserves to be widely consulted." Social Development Issues
