Kevin Tan is Associate Dean and Associate Professor at the School of Social Work, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on social emotional learning (SEL), school mental health, and equitable school-community partnerships. A former school social worker, he leads community-engaged projects around Illinois, advances transformative SEL emphasizing identity, agency, and belonging, and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Children & Schools. He led the development of the School Social Work Association of America National Practice Model 2.0. His work integrates research, teaching, and service to advance outcomes for children and youth.
