“The Impact of COVID-19 on Psychological Disorders: Current and Future Interventions is an important and timely contribution to the field of mental health. Rather than offering a general account of pandemic-related distress, the volume examines the psychological consequences of COVID-19 across the lifespan and among populations with distinct vulnerabilities, including children and adolescents, older adults, healthcare professionals, individuals with chronic and oncological conditions, and people experiencing post-COVID cognitive difficulties. Particularly valuable is its emphasis on resilience, post-traumatic growth, psychosocial and clinical interventions, and the lessons that can be drawn from diverse international experiences. By integrating clinical, developmental, social, and healthcare perspectives, this book not only helps us understand the enduring psychological legacy of COVID-19 but also provides important insights for improving mental health care, strengthening resilience, and preparing more effectively for the psychological consequences of future public health crises.”Prof Antonio Giordano, Director of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine, USA; Professor of Anatomy and Pathological Histology, Department of Medical Biotechnology, University of Siena, Italy“The COVID-19 Pandemic challenged many of the ways in which we were unthinkingly living. We could no longer freely leave our homes, visit friends, go to work, support the sick by our presence or even attend the funerals of loved ones. We were faced with the knowledge that everything is uncertain, and we are not in control of what happens to us, but only in how we respond to such challenges and the meaning we assign to them. This fundamental reset and challenge to our internal world, assumptions, and beliefs left a legacy of fear and confusion for many, as evidenced in a global mental health crisis across the generations. This important book is timely and does an excellent job in addressing the psychological impact of COVID-19 and exploring future interventions and building resilience for future challenges, all of which carry long term implications for the health of individuals and society.”Monica Hanaway, Existential Psychotherapist; Supervisor; Coach; Mediator; Trainer; and author of Existentialism in Pandemic Times“We are living in the post-COVID-19 decade, a crucial time for research about the overwhelming epidemic that we often call the great global experience of nature, which forced us into successive social adjustments. In this context, the book The Impact of COVID-19 on Psychological Disorders: Current and Future Interventions, published by Routledge, provides valuable research covering a wide range of topics and is very useful for consolidating assessments of what happened and its consequences, as well as for promoting the training of new specialists and empowering strategies and actions to face any unexpected adversities.”Prof Francisco dos Santos Cardoso, University of T. Alto Douro – UTAD, PortugalProf José Aparecido da Silva, University of S. Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, Brazil“The Impact of COVID-19 on Psychological Disorders offers a rare thing: a global accounting of the pandemic's psychological aftermath. Spanning contributors from Italy, Greece, Nigeria, Brazil, India, Turkey, Canada, and beyond, the volume moves from the general population down to the populations most easily overlooked: incarcerated people, those with intellectual disabilities, healthcare workers in under-resourced settings, and children with neurodevelopmental conditions. Its structure, tracking the pandemic across the lifespan and across clinical vulnerability, gives it real coherence for a multi-author collection. Readers won't find a single unifying theory here, but they will find a wide, carefully assembled evidence base and consistent attention to populations that narrower studies tend to miss. A useful reference for clinicians and researchers wanting to understand the breadth of the pandemic's mental health impact.”Yamikani Ndasauka, PhD, Professor, Department of Philosophy, University of Malawi; Head, Centre for Social Research, University of Malawi; Visiting Fellow, Centre for Philosophy of Epidemiology, Medicine and Public Health, Durham University, UK; Senior Research Associate, Centre for Philosophy of Epidemiology, Medicine and Public Health, University of Johannesburg, South Africa“The COVID-19 pandemic was a tragic but instructive experience that profoundly transformed our understanding of mental health and revealed the fragility and resilience of the human psyche. Looking beyond the crisis and assessing the psychological impacts, this book provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary examination of the mental health impacts of this pandemic across diverse populations, from children and adolescents to healthcare workers, from chronically ill patients to vulnerable legal and criminal populations. What sets this book apart from the perspective of health management in pandemics is its intelligent integration of rigorous empirical research, cultural perspectives from around the world, and practical intervention strategies that bridge clinical practice, policymaking, and effective interventions. The editors have assembled a valuable collection that not only documents the psychological consequences of COVID-19, but also opens new paths toward resilience and growth in the aftermath of trauma. This book is an essential resource for clinicians, researchers, educators, and policymakers who are striving to build more responsive and effective mental health systems for tomorrow.”Dr Arezoo Dehghani, Post-Doc in Health in Emergencies and Disaster and Climate Change, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Iran“The COVID-19 pandemic generated an unprecedented natural experiment in psychological health, exposing both the vulnerabilities and adaptive capacities of individuals, communities, and healthcare systems worldwide. In this important volume, the editors bring together a diverse body of scholarship that moves beyond isolated observations to provide a coherent understanding of the pandemic's mental health consequences across populations and settings. Particularly noteworthy is the book's ability to connect empirical evidence with practical implications, translating research findings into insights that can inform clinical care, public health planning, and health system preparedness. By critically examining psychological responses to large-scale disruption and identifying lessons relevant to future emergencies, this collection makes a meaningful contribution to the evolving science of mental health in times of crisis. It is an authoritative and highly valuable resource for researchers, clinicians, educators, and policymakers seeking evidence-based perspectives on one of the most consequential public health events of our time.”Dr Raj Kumar Mongre, PhD, Research Scientist, Department of Surgery, Vascular Biology Program, Boston Children’s Hospital, USA; Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, USA“The neuropsychiatric consequences of COVID-19, from acute psychological distress to the cognitive sequelae of Long COVID, demand exactly the kind of rigorous, interdisciplinary analysis this volume provides. As a cognitive neuroscientist who has spent my career connecting brain science to clinical and educational practice, I find this collection essential. Its global scope captures how the pandemic reshaped mental health across populations and cultures, while its attention to resilience and evidence-based intervention points toward recovery. This is the synthesis clinicians, researchers, and educators have needed.”John A. Agnew, PhD, Academic Program Coordinator, Walden University, USA“This book examines the global impact of COVID-19 on physical and mental health, highlighting lessons learned and evidence-based strategies to build resilience and manage future crises. It is a valuable resource for professionals in healthcare, social services, mental health, education, and research, as well as for counseling programs.”Barbara Gfellner, Professor Emerita, Department of Psychology, Brandon University, Canada“Having studied the mental health impact of the COVID pandemic and its public health response myself, I am very pleased to see this volume come together that captures many of these impacts from global perspectives. Although the particular emergency has luckily passed, this collection will prove useful if we ever have to face such a challenge again.”Lav R Varshney, Coordinated Science Laboratory, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA
