Judith M. Barringer is Professor of Greek Art and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. She is the author of Divine Escorts: Nereids in Archaic and Classical Greek Art (1995); The Hunt in Ancient Greece (2001); Art, Myth, Ritual in Classical Greece (2008), the award-winning The Art and Archaeology of Ancient Greece (2014) and Olympia: A Cultural History (Princeton UP 2021). François Lissarrague is Directeur d’études Emeritus at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. His extensive publications on images, particularly vase painting, include La cité des images 1984,Un flot d’images: Une esthétique du banquet grec (1987); L’autre guerrier: Archers, peltastes, cavaliers dans l’imagerie attique (1990); Héros et dieux de l’antiquité: Guide iconographique (1994, co-authored with I.
