I Wasn't Expecting That

This heart-touching spiritual memoir recognises that life is a messy, unpredictable, brutally hard, awe-filled, precarious gift – a potent mix that can both bless us and break us, pointing to the healing grace of God’s presence, active and alongside us in all of it. While recounting some of the most challenging threads from her own life and those of her family - including her son's school refusal, autism diagnosis, and seven year journey back into education - Rosemary Lain-Priestley shares stories of parenting, anxiety, neurodiversity, unemployment, divorce, community, difference, loss, authenticity, cancer, home, coherence, companionship, precarity, dogs and horses, sabbath, liminality and love, and frames them all within an overarching story of God’s presence and grace.. Foreword by Paula Gooder.
