Beskrivning
'I shine like the Sun...I am precious like the Earth....'What better gift is there than that of self-belief and the power to shine brightly every day?Sow the seeds of self-belief in your child at an early age with this transformative book of daily affirmations designed to build self-worth and confidence in young children. More than just phrases – they are the seeds that grow into beliefs that can be returned to in times of self-doubt. A child who believes they are 'mighty like the wind' will face challenges with positivity and fearlessness. The beautiful collage artwork introduces children to the most powerful elements around them – including the Sun, the Earth, fire and water – and by asking them to repeat the accompanying affirmations, you are embedding self-esteem and a connection to the natural world. The highlight of the book is its built-in mirror to reflect your child saying the most uplifting affirmation of all: 'I love myself. I love my world. I am happy to be me!'• This is a positive tool for adults who want to impart in children a sense of self-love and love of the planet.• Low self-esteem impacts every area of a person’s life. Introducing the idea of self-talk and self-love at an early age will help to establish positive mental health and the resilience to cope with life’s challenges.• An affirmation mirror will make the phrases more impactful and the messages more powerful.

Alice Alderman was born in London and studied at Camberwell College of Arts,  Middlesex University and The Institute of Education (University of London).Whilst she graduated with a BA Hons in Printed Textiles, her creative practice leant into illustration, and she initially began printing her whimsical characters onto t-shirts and selling these at markets across London as well as creating her designs on stationery and large vinyl wall stickers. In recent years collage has become her favourite media to work in, and she likes nothing more than the joy of cutting and sticking!Alice is also an art teacher and has been working creatively with young children for twenty years – her favourite thing is to combine her joy in nature and creativity in an array of settings from formal education to festival fields.Alice has always dreamed of creating children’s books and her teaching career and motherhood spurred her on to fulfil this dream in 2025 when her debut book, I SHINE LIKE THE SUN, was published.Alice lives in South London with her family and 2 squishy faced cats, Anthea and Elsie. She divides her time between illustration, writing and teaching art.Follow Alice on Instagram @Alice_alderman_art

Positive, quietly demonstrating our connection to the natural world, and full of opportunities for talk, this is a lovely book to share and a valuable one.
