Pantelis Sarafidis is Professor of Nephrology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Chair of the University Department of Nephrology in Hippokration Hospital of the same city. He also is the Head of the ESH Hypertension Excellence Center in this hospital. He is past Chair of the Hypertension and the Kidney Working Group of the European Society of Hypertension and past Chair of the European Renal Best Practice board of the European Renal Association. His clinical and research activities are focused on hypertension, diabetic and hypertensive nephropathy, cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease and others. He has authored more than 450 articles in peer-reviewed international medical journals, and performed more than 300 lectures in national and international meetings in the areas of Nephrology, Hypertension and related fields. Roberto Pontremoli is Full Professor of Medicine at the Dept of Internal Medicine, University of Genoa Medical School, chief of 2nd Medical Clinic and Head of Hypertension Unit at IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino in Genoa (Italy). He has a long-standing experience as a clinical investigator in the field of renal and cardiovascular medicine. A European Society of Hypertension (ESH) Specialist and former member of the Directory Board of Italian Society of Hypertension, he is also President of the Italian Society of Nephro-Cardiology (SINCAR). Dr Pontremoli is Associate Editor of Internal and Emergency Medicine, European Journal of Internal Medicine, Journal of Nephrology and Clinical Kidney Journal. Dr. Pontremoli’s research interests cover cardio-renal interactions in hypertension, albuminuria as a cardiovascular and renal risk marker and diabetic nephropathy. He has contributed over 300 PudMed indexed publications in peer reviewed journals and has an Hirsh Index of 49.
