Jennifer L. McCoy is the Regent’s Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Georgia State University and nonresident scholar at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She is the coauthor of International Mediation in Venezuela. Murat Somer is professor of political science and international relations at Özyeğin University Istanbul. He is the author of Return to Point Zero: The Turkish-Kurdish Question and How Politics and Ideas (Re)Make Empires, Nations, and States. McCoy and Somer coedited two special issues on polarization, the later one in The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, “Polarizing Polities: A Global Threat to Democracy.”
